Skagen

Just an hour's drive from Aalborg, idyllic Skagen is a favourite day trip for city breakers both in summer and winter.
Skagen is famous for its artists' colonies, wild landscape, fantastic beaches and the two seas that meet at ‘Grenen’ (the very northern point of continental Europe).

North Jutland, also known as 'the Land of Light', has some of Denmark's most popular coastal resorts, such as Løkken and Blokhus. Great for family holidays, watersports and other activities as well as bases from which to explore.

Aalborg - the fastest city break

Make the most of the weekend on a City Break to Aalborg – a great destination at the top of Denmark.

Aalborg is gateway to North Jutland's fantastic nature and the city itself has plenty to offer whether your preference is for culture, shopping or clubbing.

Couple in Jomfru Ane Gade
Aalborg is known for its Aalborg Akvavit, a clear, high-spirited liquor that many Danes enjoy with herring and other specialities. It is a quirky and chic town that offers a cosy city centre with a lot of shopping possibilities as well as restaurants and bars within walking distance. The same is true for the art and culture scene in Aalborg as art and design centres such as the Utzon Centre and Nordkraft Cultural Centre are located in the town centre.

                                     Art and culture in Aalborg
For art lovers visit the North Jutland Art Museum, 'Kunsten'. Experience the intriguing architecture designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and see the COBRA-paintings by Danish artist Asger Jorn in the permanent exhibit. The new Utzon Centre designed by famous Danish architect Jørn Utzon (best known for building Australia’s Sydney

Opera) offers a fascinating display of contemporary Danish and International art and design. The new art centre, Nordkraft Cultural Centre, on the city's harbour front is a vibrant house where many different cultural and sports players inspire and enrich each other and offer the public great cultural experiences. Skråen, a modern music venue, is also located in the centre.

Shopping
Aalborg has two main pedestrian streets, Bispensgade and Algade, with a broad selection of high street brands, designer boutiques, and the large shopping centre Friis. It is easy to get around in the centre of Aalborg as most of the shops, cafés, bars are within walking distance. Furthermore, everything is close to the harbour which gives the centre of Aalborg a very unique atmosphere.

                                     Great places to eat
With more restaurants and bars per resident than any other town in Denmark there is something to suit everyone’s palette and pocket. From the cream coloured interior and international fusion style of Mortens Kro to Nordens Folkekøkken based on the classical Nordic kitchen cooked in new ways with local herbs and berries. Down at the harbour you can find Prinses Juliana, a floating seafood and gourmet restaurant in the former Dutch training ship named after Princess Juliana of the Netherlands in 1932

A night out on the town
Jomfru Ane Gade is a must when visiting Aalborg! It is the longest street in Denmark with bars and restaurants. The street has a cosy and fun vibe as people of all ages meet up either to enjoy a lovely meal, have a cocktail or dance all night long.
