Copenhagen Culture

Copenhagen’s blend of old and new, historic and futuristic, is apparent everywhere, even in the city’s cultural calendar. It’s easy to shake off the stress and feel reinvigorated in a city with such a lively pulse and a tolerant outlook.

The annual Copenhagen Gay & Lesbian Film Festival showcases cinema with a queer twist, inspiring films that break boundaries. It’s the world’s longest running gay and lesbian film festival, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2010.

Christiania

Power to the people!
Take a trip through Freetown Christiania, an autonomous community (Wikipedia calls it a micronation) within Copenhagen yet governed by its own laws. Totally 1970s? Yes! Christiania was born in 1971 and is still going strong.
